Project Description

This project provided a new home for the College of Business on the Manhattan campus of Kansas State University. The 160,000 square foot building was tucked into the President’s Field among several mature trees on the east side of campus. Great care was taken to preserve as many of the existing trees as possible. Because of the limited site footprint underground storm water detention was utilized to manage the increase in runoff. Roof drainage and a portion of the surface runoff are piped into a 17,000 cubic foot underground system that limits the post-development flow to pre-development rates. Schwab Eaton rerouted and upgraded the existing utilities around the site to accommodate the new building. Schwab Eaton coordinated with the university’s chilled water and steam infrastructure expansion which was ongoing.
