TRANSPORTATION
SYSTEMS
The
nation moves and thrives on its vast network of highways and bridges.
Agricultural products must be delivered from farm to market - industrial
and commercial products must be transported from factory to consumer -
people must be provided with transportation facilities for ease of movement
from home to work and to play.
Schwab-Eaton
has played a part in the design of important segments in the great highway
system of America. Projects span a range of highway uses from local roads
and bridges for cities and counties to major State and Interstate highway
and bridge projects.
A
couple of Schwab-Eaton's first major projects included highway
designs for an eleven mile stretch of dual-lane highway in the Appalachian
Mountains of eastern Kentucky - rugged and challenging, the location and
design surveys were completed on schedule. Equally tough and demanding
was a design project in the Republic of Panama - a 40 mile stretch of
pioneer highway through the upper reaches of the Darien Jungle. The Owner
of this project was the Panamanian government and the Engineer was a joint
venture by the principals of Schwab-Eaton and San-Ore of McPherson,
Kansas. From those early projects, Schwab-Eaton has continued to
thrive
and excel on transportation projects.
As
the highways of America expand to meet the needs of our people, Schwab-Eaton
will meet the challenge of this expansion.
